What a wonderful day off. I got to sleep in a little and then just chill on the couch all day watching about 5 hours of "so you think you can dance" I had recorded on the DVR and then getting some Chinese food carry out with my roommate before seeing tonight's episode of "so you think you can dance" before my roommate and I started watching episodes of "It's always sunny in Philadelphia" on the DVR. Man, lots of tv today. DVRs are excellent!
Bye.

So I've got a friend visiting from MI and he's staying here with one of his friends. We had a late grilling session with some good food and then sat on the front porch drinking some beers during the magnificent storms we had tonight. I just stepped outside for my last cigarette of the night out on my balcony and saw a few lightening bugs. Something I didn't expect in the city here. A wonderful memory of Michigan.
Bye.

It's always so wonderful to wake up in the morning to find that one of your roommates clogged the toilet, but not only clogged it... clogged it and kept flushing causing an overflow. Then turning off the water to the toilet and leaving the floor soaking wet including the bathroom rug and not attempting to plunge the toilet nor clean up the mess. Fucking idiots. I just washed that rug 4 days ago.
In better news. I now have a window air conditioner. I picked it up this morning. I bought it off of Craigslist for $30. It isn't all high tech or anything, but I put it in my window and it's working like a charm! Ah...comfort. No more sleeping in an 88 degree room that is so humid your sheets feel damp.
Bye.

Things have been going pretty well for me lately I suppose. I just always seem to be at work.
I volunteered for the Red Cross today with a couple of my housemates Sonja and Leah. It was in Old Town Alexandria, VA at the Waterfront Festival they were having. We were working the beer tent, unfortunately I wasn't able to stand around and drink. It was 93 degrees sunny and humid, it was crazy hot. Only part of our station was covered. I got a little sun burn on my face and neck, but not too bad. However...
( I did get to purchase this! )
Bye.

I went out and drank for six days in a row last week, topping it off with a wonderful Saturday night out for Tasha's b-day. I think I need to be on detox for a few days this week, or maybe the whole week.
Sat. night was awesome. I got to see a few people I hadn't seen in a long time and I got to dance which also has not been done in a very long time. I was having tons of fun acting like a fool by dancing crazy dance moves and even doing some interpretive dance in there. Sometimes it's fun to make a fool of yourself and not care.
Work has picked up and I'm making pretty good money now. I hope it stays this way. Apparently we haven't hit our "slow period" yet, which comes during the summer months when it's warmer out.
Speaking of work, I'm arriving early today so I have time for a couple of extra cups of coffee.
Bye.

FORMER house majority leader Tom Delay (the hammer) Was in our restaurant tonight for dinner. Complete with security. The only reason he gets security is because he was the majority leader. Sometimes my job can be quite entertaining.

Professional shoe shine plus tip: $13.00
Dry cleaning: $12.00
Haircut plus tip $50.00
Doing all this for an event that you were invited to and having everyone that was supposed to be there that you know, including the person whom invited you, bail out: PRICELESS
Not to mention it rained like hell on me on my way home from the metro. Just the icing on the cake I suppose.
Bye.

So, tonight Hillary Clinton joined a group of friends for dinner at the restaurant. The friends were done eating and she was supposed to join for cappuccino. Instead she ordered a half a rack of lamb for dinner. We don't offer a half a rack of lamb, but she got it. She was wearing pink. She always wears pink. As I was leaving work one of the other waiters came into the locker room to collect a few things, he got off a little early so he went 2 doors down to Legal Sea Foods for a beer. He said John Kerry came into that restaurant. When he heard Hillary was 2 doors down he said "I hope she's not coming over here." Apparently they don't get along too well.
So that was my excitement for the day. YAY!
Bye.

So, recently I have not been able to sleep very well and I don't know what my problem is. Last night was no exception. I couldn't fall asleep until almost 5:00am and tossed and turned until 7:30am. I didn't have to be awake until 8:30. I've also been dreaming constantly and that's been waking me up as well.
To add to the no sleep I've also been a little under the weather the past few days. It started Friday morning and hasn't gone away, but it's getting better. It's just a stuffed up/runny nose that drains into my throat giving me a shitty cough. I managed to survive all winter long without getting sick once, this will not get the best of me!
I'll be working a lot this week and hopefully that will turn out to be a good thing in the long run. I currently have this evening off and Thursday off. We're normally closed on Sunday, but since it's Mother's day we'll be open and I work it.
Ok, time to go check on the coffee.
Bye.

This is looking to be a busy week.
I really need a massage of my back, neck and shoulders. This new job makes them all really tense. I blame trying to break years of slouching habits and needing to do more back and ab exercises. Perhaps next week I'll have to devote some money to getting a massage.
I went to IKEA yesterday and it was so much fun. I love IKEA. I just wanted to buy all kinds of goodies. Instead I only bought champagne flutes, more silverware and that's really it.
Is it sad that I had a bottle of champagne ready for last night's election episode of The West Wing?
I think I may have met the biggest mo (homo) so far to date. I know there are bigger ones out there, but for me he is THE BIGGEST I've met. I work with him. He's older, in his 40s I believe. He isn't too much of a flamer and you can think of a lot of the stereotypical gay things like a lisp and things of that nature and he really has none of those that are too pronounced, but what he does have is a BARBRA STREISAND WEBSITE. Devoted to Barbra Streisand. He sells memorabilia and can rattle of all the movies she's been in and the dates and when her birthday is and what not. Hmmmm...perhaps that sort of thing is a bit unhealthy. But who am I to judge.
Well, I'm up early so I'll have to get busy taking a shower, having some coffee and ironing one of my tuxedo shirts for work.
Bye.

I just made the worst cup of coffee ever in my life. It is nasty, but I guess that can happen with instant coffee.
Time to drink this nasty coffee so I can hop in the shower and head to work. There's a wine tasting today at the Kennedy Center that I'm going to go to with a few co-workers in between shifts. That should be fun.
Bye.

Ah yes. Newly found words of wisdom for my friends in lj land...
If you decide to go out one night and have become quite intoxicated prior to leaving and then continue to drink while at the club, please stand while riding on the metro. Why stand? Because you are less likely to fall asleep, miss your stop and ride all the way to the end of the line, to then be woken up by a metro employee and then have to go outside and catch a cab to take you home costing you $20...all while having to pee.
Gotta love it.
I did have a pretty good time though despite the fact I went alone. I even sang karaoke with all the gays.
Bye.

work work work work work
That's ok though because I like my job.
I ordered a veal marsala yesterday when I got to work, but we were busy and they needed me so I didn't have time to eat it. So, it sat in my locker for like 10 hours and I brought it home and still ate it. Is that gross? I made sure I warmed it back up to 165 degrees to try and keep me from getting food poisoning. I think it worked. Only side effect...really really bad gas.
Note: Don't eat like 15 cloves of roasted garlic right before bed.
Now I know why garlic can keep vampires away, especially if the vampires are under my sheets.
Time to go to Starbucks and then make some money...hopefully.
Bye.
